Capcom Confirms Resident Evil 2 Remake Is A Go

Resident Evil 2 Remake has been announced officially by Capcom and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi after Resident Evil HD Remaster succeeded in pleasing fans all over

Capcom R&D Division 1 and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, producer of the hit horror/strategy video game titled Resident Evil HD Remaster have confirmed that a remake of Resident Evil 2 is indeed happening. No further details other than the game's existence has yet been announced, however, Hirabayashi has stated that the remake comes due to a high demand from fans for another classic Resident Evil
video game.

Once again Yoshiaki Hirabayashi will be heading the game development team, which means that the old classic zombie horror game style will likely be once again making its impact on the next gen consoles. Hirabayashi’s statement also pointed out that the game is in its very early stages, which means it’s not bound to come out anytime sooner, maybe next year or maybe in the upcoming months the developers might announce some progress made on the video game.

The move makes sense, since Resident Evil HD Remaster released back in January 2015 was able to grab attention of all the fans of Resident Evil classic games, which eventually led to an increase in demand of Resident Evil remake games.

Resident Evil HD Remaster also went on to break records upon its launch, as the game was labeled as the fastest selling digital title in Capcom's history; especially across North America and Europe. The development team also announced a remake of GameCube’s exclusive Resident Evil Zero which will be released early 2016 in Japan, however a date for other countries was not handed out.

Moving ahead, the Resident Evil 2 remake will likely be developed for Sony’s PlayStation 4, Microsoft’s Xbox One, and PC, however, this too has not been confirmed but assuming that the previous remakes were released for such consoles we can predict that the company will be repeating the platforms.

Capcom’s other Resident Evil titles such as Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, and Resident Evil Revelations 2 had reportedly failed to amuse fans, leading to a disappointing sales figure forcing the company to re-think over developing future Resident Evil titles and instead moving focus towards bringing the hit classic zombie shooting to next gen consoles.

No news about whether Capcom plans to release the game for Nintendo consoles have yet been announced, as the old Resident Evil titles made a huge impact on them back in the good old Nintendo days, however, if the Japanese tech giants manage to release the recently announced Nintendo NX before the Resident Evil 2 remake launch, it’s likely a version for the console might be considered.

Capcom and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi will be aiming to provide the classic zombie survival experience to the new generation who are not familiar with classic and popular Resident Evil titles and it’s unquestionable that the 1998 Resident Evil 2 HD remake will be fit for this task.

For those who are unfamiliar with Resident Evil 2, it was launched back in January 21 1998 and was developed by the likes of Capcom, Tiger Electronics, Rockstar San Diego, Gearbox Software, Factor 5, and Capcom Production Studio 3. The game was also designed by popular designers of that era, Shinji Mikami and Hideki Kamiya who also led the designing team for hit gaming titles such as Okami, Devil May Cry, and several other Resident Evil titles. Resident Evil 2 was initially released for Sony’s first-ever PlayStation, Microsoft’s Windows 98/ XP, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, and GameCube. We expect that the Resident Evil 2 remake will involve the same characters and revolve around the same storyline that was presented in the 1998 hit survival game, which means Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield will once again be teaming up with T-Virus survivors in hopes to escape from the affected Raccoon City.

Hopefully this game will cheer up all those disappointed Resident Evil fans and once again take them back to the time where Resident Evil games were all about surviving the zombie apocalypse and solving puzzles to find clues that would help them escape Raccoon City.
