Dark Souls III Launch Date Revealed

From Software, the developers behind the upcoming Dark Souls game dubbed as Dark Souls III, have announced that the title will be released first in Japan on March 24, 2016. According to the developers, Dark Souls III will be made available across Sony’s PlayStation 4, and Microsoft’s Xbox One for 7,430 Yen on retail and 6,930 Yen through download.

Furthermore, the developers have also indicated that the retail version of the game will be limited upon launch, moreover, will also include a special map, and a soundtrack CD. The international release date of Dark Souls III is said to be announced later next year along with a release date for the PC edition as well.

Moving ahead, From Software has also announced that a network test for Dark Souls on the PS4 will also be taking place starting October 16, 2015 and will be carried out through till October 18. This network test is mentioned to take place between 20:00 till 23:00 (Japan time). The developers have also announced that testers can apply for this network test starting today till the deadline date, which is October 4.

From Software have also suggested that all applying beta testers for the Dark Souls III network test will have to be 17 of age or above and those who put in all their efforts and time to this beta network test will be prioritized.

For those who are unfamiliar with Dark Souls III, it is an action RPG title and is a sequel to the previously launched Souls series. Dark Soul III’s Director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, had previously pointed out a few details regarding the upcoming title, stating that the game will be a third-person shooter where players will take up the role of Ashes, a warlord from Dark Souls II. Furthermore, Miyazaki also noted out that the upcoming title will include new weapons such as; shortbows, explosives, magic along with middle-age swords for a compelling sword fighting duel with enemies.

Dark Souls III is also said to include several new combat fighting patterns that will change over time as players face new boss after each level completion. The developers have also introduced and enhanced combat and movements mechanism, which means that players will now be able to move their character quicker whilst blocking and pushing for a counter-attack at the same time.

Previous details revealed about Dark Souls III also indicate new combat features such as “Ready Stance,” a special ability that will aid players to endure less damage. Moreover, Dark Souls III is also said to bring in “Gravestones,” a torch-type light that will light up every time a player obtains it to help them throughout the dark forests. Dark Souls III is also said to include fewer maps than its predecessor Dark Souls II, however, Miyazaki previously announced that Dark Souls III story-line is said to interconnect with the previous game.

From Software had also announced earlier that Dark Souls III will also include a multiplayer mode this year as well. More news will be shared by the developers regarding Dark Souls III in the upcoming months as the beta network test goes live in October 2015.
