First Ubuntu Running Smartphone Launched In India By BQ

Ubuntu Linux has got number of fans worldwide as it is lightweight, free and open source. Now after a long wait,BQ, a Spanish manufacturer has launched its two Ubuntu running smartphones in India. Aquaris E4.5 and Aquaris E5 will be exclusively available on Snapdeal by the end of this month with a price tag of Rs.11,999 and Rs.13,999 respectively.

There was a great demand of these phones in India after they were released in Europe earlier this year. “The success we have seen with the Aquaris E4.5 and E5 Ubuntu Editions in Europe has precipitated this follow-on launch with Snapdeal in India”, remarks German Lopez, CEO of BQ.

AQUARIS E4.5 has got 4.5″ qHD display with a resolution of 540X960 pixels and a pixel density of 240 ppi. This Smartphone is powered by 1.3 GHz Quad Core MediaTek Cortex A7 chipset with Mali 400 GPU and 1GB RAM.Offers 8 mp rear camera and 5 mp front camera which perform better than expectations due to Picture-Stitching technology used by the phone.

For connectivity it has WiFi 802.11 b/g/n,Bluetooth 4.0,3G(HSPA+),GPS/AGPS,Micro USB with OTG and FM Radio. The manufacturer has provided 8GB of Internal storage which is expandable upto 32GB using MicroSD card.  The BQ Aquaris E4.5 has dimensions 137x67x9mm, weighs 123 gms and is equipped with 2150 mAh Li-Po battery.

AQUARIS E5 HD  has 5″ full HD display and it is having 5 mp front facing camera and 13 mp rear camera with dual-LED flash,a BSI sensor and a Largan Lens.The Smartphone is fueled by a 2500 mAh battery. The OS and apps running over it are supported by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor along with a 1GB of RAM. Having a 16GB of internal storage the storage capacity that can be expanded up to 32 GB.

On connectivity front, the handset comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G (HSPA+), GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and FM radio as options. This phone has dimensions 142x71x8.6mm and weighs 134 grams.
